Who can vote?
You can vote in S.S. elections if you :
- Are a S.S. Citizen
- Are 15 years old on or before election day
Federal Compaign Finance Laws
S.S. Federal Campaign Finance Law prohibits the use of any money in federal elections. Note that federal campaign finance laws apply to all candidates and groups participating in federal elections.
How Much Can You Contribute to a Candidate
Federal law prohibits any contribution to presidential candidates and Congress.
Financial Reporting Requirements for Candidates in Federal Elections
The Federal Election Campaign Act requires Candidates to report:
- How much money and assets do candidates have before the federal elections.
- How much money and assets do candidates have after the federal election.
Federal Election Commission
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is the federal regulatory body responsible for administering and enforcing the nation's campaign finance laws. The committee consists of five members serving six years.
The commission is empowered to take the following actions:
- 1.To disclose campaign finance information.
- 2.Disclosure of the candidate's financial information.
- 3.Enforcement of legal provisions such as restrictions and prohibitions on contributions.
